We are proud and delighted to share exciting news celebrating the extraordinary career and scientific legacy of our CHIRAX coordinator, Prof. Majed Chergui.
To honor Prof. Chergui, whose pioneering work has continually expanded the frontiers of ultrafast science, The Journal of Physical Chemistry A/B/C is hosting a dedicated Festschrift special issue in his honor.
In recognition of the broad scope of Majed Chergui’s contributions to the field, this special issue aims to define emerging scientific challenges, showcase key advances, highlight new materials frontiers, bridge research communities, and clarify the conceptual frameworks needed to interpret ultrafast X-ray and optical signals in complex systems.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
Ultrafast Dynamics and Spectroscopy: X-ray spectroscopies, Deep ultraviolet, 2D spectroscopy, Fluorescence, Circular and Helical dichroism.
Ultrafast (Bio)molecular Processes: Solvation dynamics, electron transfer, spin cross-over, chirality, coordination complexes, protein dynamics.
Ultrafast Condensed Phase Photophysics: Nanoparticles, transition metal oxides, perovskites.
Non-linear X-ray Phenomena.
Submission Guidelines & Key Dates
We warmly invite colleagues, collaborators, and researchers across the international community to submit their manuscripts to this special scientific tribute.
Submission Deadline: January 31, 2027
Publication: Accepted papers will be published online ASAP (As Soon As Publishable).
Peer-Review Process: All submissions will be handled by JPC Senior Editors and evaluated according to the standard high criteria of The Journal of Physical Chemistry.
Important Notice for Authors:
To ensure an unbiased peer-review process, please do not mention the Special Issue or the honoree(outside of standard scientific citations) within your main manuscript file. Doing so will require your manuscript to be returned for correction.
Instead, please state prominently in your cover letter upon submission that the paper is intended for the “Majed Chergui Festschrift.”
For further information on submission requirements, please visit the journal’s Author Guidelines page and the official submission portal for The Journal of Physical Chemistry.
