Jayanta Ghosh

He obtained his Ph.D. degree from the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore, India in 2020. During his doctoral studies, he investigated the ultrafast decomposition mechanisms and dynamics of high-nitrogen energetic molecules using a multi-faceted approach. His research employed advanced techniques, including high harmonic generation spectroscopy, two-pulse correlation spectroscopy, vacuum ultraviolet absorption spectroscopy, photoelectron spectroscopy, and time-dependent non-adiabatic molecular dynamics simulations.

Following his Ph.D., he worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Institute of Physics, Universität Kassel, Germany, in Prof. Thomas Baumert’s group, from October 2019 to March 2024. His research focused on coherent electronic excitation using tailored femtosecond laser pulses, with two primary directions: (1) Coherent manipulation of molecular systems in the context of quantum information science. (2) Towards ddevelopment of new experimental methods for the efficient detection of molecular chirality in gas and solution phases. This included techniques such as Photoelectron Circular Dichroism (PECD), circular dichroism in ion yield, and chiral sum-frequency generation using overlapping bichromatic optical laser pulses.

Currently, he has been working as a postdoctoral researcher at the Elettra Synchrotron in Trieste, Italy, as part of the CHIRAX project since April 2024. His research focuses on developing advanced non-linear X-ray techniques, particularly optical and X-ray sum or difference frequency generation in chiral liquid samples, utilizing a flat liquid jet setup.
