Majed Chergui, project leader of the ERC CHIRAX project, hosted by Elettra Sincrotrone Trieste, has been awarded the 2025 Great Arab Minds Award in the Natural Sciences category.
The Great Arab Minds Award is an international recognition that honours outstanding figures in science, culture and technology whose work has a significant impact on the advancement of knowledge.
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, highlighted that the award recognises “a career dedicated to the development of tools and experimental methods to observe the ultrafast motion of atoms and molecules, opening new frontiers for contemporary science”.
Professor Chergui was honoured for his pioneering contributions to ultrafast spectroscopy, which have expanded research capabilities in physics, chemistry and materials science.
