Sebastian Louis Jackson
Sebastian L. Jackson joined the CHIRAX group in 2024 as a postdoc. His interest is in developing novel experiments to reveal the natural world at a molecular scale. He received his MChemPhys Hons. in Chemical Physics at the University of Edinburgh, spending his final year at National Taiwan University researching for Prof. Pi-Tai Chou. He then received his PhD from Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh working in Prof. Dave Townsend’s group studying ultrafast molecular dynamics. His thesis was titled Ultrafast Ultraviolet: Hollow Capillary Fibres for Time-Resolved Photoelectron Imaging. Since moving to FERMI at Trieste, he has proposed, developed and participated in various optical, synchrotron and free-electron laser-based experiments. He values collaboration, innovation and openness as key to research. Sebastian aims to implement experiments for a greener, cleaner and brighter future.
