At Trieste Next 2025, the talk “Inside the Drug — When the Shape of a Molecule Makes the Difference” attracted a full room and an actively participating audience, confirming strong interest in the molecular foundations of modern medicines.
The session featured Majed Chergui, Paola Storici, and Stephanie Federico, who guided the discussion through complementary perspectives spanning chemical physics, structural biology, and pharmaceutical chemistry.
Focusing on the role of molecular shape and chirality, the speakers showed how subtle structural differences can determine whether a compound becomes an effective drug, remains inactive, or leads to adverse effects.
